Working with Aldersgate United Methodist Church and organ maker Casavant Frères, Acoustical
Design Collaborative, Ltd provided room acoustics measurement and design for
sanctuary renovations prior to installing a new 50 rank pipe organ. Sanctuary
modifications included extra layers of gypsum board applied on wall and ceiling
surfaces to reduce low frequency sound absorption, sealing stone and masonry
surfaces to reduce high frequency sound absorption, and removing acoustical wall
panels and changing to sound diffusive surfaces, all with the objective of
improving organ tonal conditions. Future modifications will include removing the
chancel and aisle carpet and installing sound reflective floor surfaces. The new
organ was inaugurated with a series of concerts. |
