Acoustical Design
Collaborative Ltd provided room acoustics,
HVAC noise control, sound isolation, and
sound systems design for the conversion of
an historic 1931 movie palace into a
1,200-seat multi-purpose auditorium. Of
particular challenge was integrating sound
reinforcement and film/video sound systems
within the historic fabric of the
auditorium’s audience chamber. The sound
reinforcement system comprises
left-center-right loudspeakers for voice and
music reinforcement. The film sound system
comprises separate left-center-right
loudspeakers, subwoofers, and surround sound
loudspeakers. A full production intercom
system provides intercommunication for
technical and artistic personnel. HVAC
equipment noise control required special
detailing since the equipment is directly
above the stage and audience chamber.
Similar acoustic and noise control design
services were provided for conversion of spaces
in an adjoining building into a series of
community meeting rooms, a large rehearsal
room, and staff offices. The Paramount
Theater opened with critical acclaim for its
acoustical qualities and restored
architectural splendor. |
