ODEON Room Acoustics
Modeling

Computerized room acoustics analysis enables design
modifications to be easily investigated. The above wireframe
model is of a large 1,200-seat contemporary church that has
problems with poor choir sound projection and overall lack
of music clarity in the congregation seating area. The
objective of this study is to predict the acoustical
improvements resulting from adding a sound reflecting canopy
above the choir and installing acoustically absorptive
panels on the stepped ceiling soffits. The model enables
mapping the acoustical response to determine what
congregation areas are affected by the proposed
modifications. The above picture illustrates the
unamplified sound level of a solo singer with the red and
orange colors
representing the highest sound level and the blue and green
colors representing lower sound levels. |
